This week, I've completed 10 years in ministry at New City Fellowship in St Louis. As a celebration of God's faithfulness through all the ups and downs, I want to share a new song that I wrote this year based on the familiar benediction from Jude 24-25.
"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."
Cross-cultural music ministry has constantly reminded me of my inabilities. I know that I am unable to change hearts, unable to re-write history, and unable to cause the callus cynic to burst into song. I am unable to speak more than one language, unable to master many different styles, and unable to force walls of hostility to come down between broken relationships.
However, I have been a witness to God's power demonstrated year after year in the trenches of this battle for the kingdom. God is able to uphold me and my team from falling. God is able to present us as faultless in his presence with great joy. Because my God is able, he is also worthy of glory, majesty, dominion, and authority. His power demonstrated in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ has been my testimony for these past 10 years.
